Meet the Team

Drs. Glen and Caroline Pyne

OWNERS/VETERINARIANS

Glen Pyne was raised in Southern California where he developed an early love for fixing things. Coming from a family of engineers it seemed likely that he would follow this path. However, the joy he found in caring for animals inspired him to earn a Bachelor’s in Animal Science from Cal Poly, Pomona. After spending summers working in a veterinary hospital in Park City, Utah, it became clear that Glen was destined to combine his passion for fixing and his love for animals into becoming a veterinarian excelling in surgery.

On the other side of the country, Caroline, was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. From a very early age, Caroline knew she wanted to be an animal doctor. Without pets of her own, she cared for the chicks that followed her home from school and the frogs she found on family outings. This love for animals eventually led her to pursue a Bachelor’s in Animal Science from Cornell University. After graduation, Caroline worked for the State of New York’s diagnostic lab in the swine department.

Eventually, both Glen and Caroline decided to continue their education at Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of Saint Kitts (about 1,300 miles southeast of Miami, Florida). It is here, during their first semester of vet school that Glen and Caroline met. Together they graduated, and Mr. and Mrs. became Dr. and Dr. After a short stay in Ohio, the newlyweds decided to head west to put down roots. On October 18, 1999, Glen and Caroline opened the doors to Paws ’n’ Claws Veterinary Hospital solidifying that Yorba Linda would be their home. And just two days later, on October 20, 1999, they gave birth to their second son!

Since arriving in Yorba Linda, the Pynes have been ever present in this vibrant community; contributing and supporting their children through Youth Sports, including Yorba Linda High School’s athletic programs, participating in the Yorba Linda Rotary Club, contributing to many career days at elementary, junior highs, and high schools within the Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District, as well as maintaining an active role in the St. Martin’s Church congregation. All three of their children are grown and following their passions; Connor (28) has followed his parents’ footsteps and is currently completing his veterinary surgical residency in Kansas after attending the University of Missouri. Travis (25) completed his Bachelor of Science at Utah State University and is now an Assistant Manager with Enterprise Mobility. Their youngest, Madison (23), is pursuing a degree in Equine Studies at Feather River College in Quincy, California. In their free time, Drs. Glen and Caroline like to travel, visit their children, hike, sail and volunteer with the Wild Sheep Foundation.

Paws ‘n’ Claws Veterinary Hospital has always focused on a personalized approach to Veterinary Medicine. Proactive patient care is paramount to the Pynes. Treatment options are explained clearly, and decisions are made collaboratively. Every dog, cat, parrot, tortoise, guinea pig, and/or any other pet that comes in the door is treated like family. Dr. Caroline is a dynamite diagnostician and Dr. Glen is an accomplished surgeon, but as they have since their first semester of vet school, the Pynes are a team and work together to ensure the best veterinary care.
